Participation in the 141st Annual Meeting of the International Trademark Association (INTA)

The 141st Annual Meeting of the International Trademark Association (INTA) will take place from May 18 to May 22, 2019, in the city of Boston, MA, U.S.A. This is the main and largest international conference involving professionals in the field of trademark law. More than 11,000 brand owners and IP professionals have already registered for this year’s edition.

Baril Advogados will be once again represented in this important event by Mr. Natan Baril (Founding Partner), Mr. Alysson H. Oikawa (Coordinator Partner, IP Department), and Ms. Mariana Chacur (Senior Partner, IP Department).

Serving as appointed member for the 2018-2019 INTA Academic Committee, Mr. Oikawa will be the moderator of the segment “China, Japan, South Korea, Hong Kong, Taiwan and the ASEAN Countries”, of the Course on International Trademark Law and Practice.

Founded in 1878, INTA is the global association of brand owners and IP professionals dedicated to supporting trademarks and related intellectual property in order to protect consumers and to promote fair and effective commerce.

INTA’s members are more than 7,200 organizations from 191 countries. INTA members collectively contribute almost US $12 trillion / €8.8 trillion / ¥73 trillion to global GDP annually. For comparison, the 2016 annual GDP of the top three markets was $11.2 trillion (China), $16.4 trillion (European Union) and $18.6 trillion (United States).

The Association’s member organizations represent some 31,000 trademark professionals and include brand owners from major corporations as well as small- and medium-sized enterprises, law firms, and nonprofits. There are also government agency members, as well as individual professor and student members.
